The Alma J. Cameron Foundation

About

Overview

About Us:

Alma J. Cameron, affectionately known as ‘Jean,’ was first diagnosed with Lung Caner in May of 2006. She fought with her mind, body and faith and did it with strength, dignity and grace but succumbed to Stage IV Lung Cancer on April 26, 2009, almost three years after her diagnosis. She was a non-smoker and lived in a smoke-free environment.

During treatment, our mother would engage those she came in contact with in conversations about diet, exercise and her Integrative (Alternative) treatments. Most patients we spoke with didn’t know about integrative medicine, couldn’t afford it, or didn’t know where to find the services.

This foundation, Alma J. Cameron Foundation for Cancer Awareness (AJCF), was created as a tribute to her heroic fight, love and compassion for people. It is our mission to use this medium to bridge the gap between access to Integrative medicine for those who do not have access to such treatment option due to financial constraint. We intend to do this by providing financial grants and referrals, so that everyone who wants to will have access to Integrative medicine. The AJCF will also provide lung cancer awareness education online, through grass-root efforts and a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs).

Our Purpose: We are committed to bringing programs that educate and foster awareness, as well as provide financial support to aid Lung Cancer patients. Our foundation will be aligned with like-minded groups and non-profits that advance the fight against the disease.

Who We Are: We are the family and friends of Alma J. Cameron, who stand behind the foundation’s efforts to make a difference in cancer education and awareness, one person at a time.
